The Failed Harvest
The episode begins with the aftermath of the hunt for the ruelle fruit. Although Lord Ferdinand and Eckhard successfully defeat the goltze (a feybeast), the ruelle fruit it stole is deemed useless. Because it was tainted by the mana of multiple creatures and Rosemyne’s own panicked output, it cannot be used as an ingredient for her jureve (the potion needed to dissolve her life-threatening mana clumps). Ferdinand consoles a disappointed Rosemyne, promising they will try again next year with better preparations.
Secrets of the Former High Bishop
Back at the cathedral, Rosemyne finds a key to a shelf of "rare books," only to discover boxes of letters addressed to the former High Bishop, Bezewanst. While some are personal grievances, many contain evidence of bribery and wicked schemes involving Viscount Gerlach and Lady Veronica (Sylvester’s mother). Ferdinand reveals the dark history of his childhood, explaining how Veronica—who is now imprisoned—treated him cruelly, and how Sylvester had to make the painful choice to arrest his own mother to stop her crimes.
Gathering the "Gutenbergs"
Rosemyne turns her attention to the printing industry. She meets with her exclusive carpenter, Ingo, who felt neglected after she used the general guild for a project in Hasse. To reassure him of his "exclusive" status, she tasks him with a massive project: upgrading the printing press.
She holds a meeting in her hidden room with her team of craftsmen, whom she calls the "Gutenbergs":
