Anime Synopsis

Set during the summer of 1907, in the final years of Japan's Meiji era, the story follows 15-year-old Inako Momokawa, the second daughter of a traditional sake-brewing family in Kyoto's Fushimi district. Despite her sincere efforts, she constantly disappoints her strict father, leaving her to seek comfort through her unwavering faith and daily prayers.

Everything changes when she encounters Kihachi Sakamoto at the famous Fushimi Inari Shrine. Unlike Inako, Kihachi has little faith in the gods and instead believes that the future belongs to science and the rapidly advancing world of electricity.

When Inako's family suddenly arranges her marriage without asking for her opinion, she begins to lose hope of choosing her own path. Encouraged by Kihachi, she finally admits her desire to escape the life that has been forced upon her. Their only chance lies in finding a mysterious book known as the "Electricity Catalog," a remarkable manuscript Kihachi wrote as a child that is said to hold the key to changing their future. However, the book disappeared after being taken by his older brother, Seiroku.

Together, Inako and Kihachi embark on a journey across Kyoto and Shiga, searching for the lost book while discovering new possibilities, challenging old traditions, and pursuing the freedom to shape their own destinies.
